GROWING PAIN SOLUTIONS
The GPS to Building Inclusive Communities
We empower individuals recently released from incarceration through education, advocacy, and health equity. We facilitate employment training and reintegration, fostering an equitable world where everyone can thrive. Our focus includes advocacy, mediation, and social and emotional intelligence.
By equipping individuals with social and emotional intelligence skills, and providing a supportive network for employment and housing, we envision a future where returning citizens are not only self-sufficient but also key players in strengthening our communities. Our goal is to catalyze change that ripples through society, advocating for policies that support reintegration, and promoting a culture of inclusivity and resilience that upholds the belief that everyone deserves a second chance to create a positive legacy.
The Ensuring Access and Supporting Engagement (EASE) Act will allow DC residents currently incarcerated to testify before the DC council. This will also give these residents the ability to discuss any concerns with the ANC commissioner representing them. Because of the systemic racism built into DC's criminal justice system, 92% of residents in DOC facilities are black. By not allowing those incarcerated to testify, DC severely suppresses its black population. GPS's co-founder, Herbert Robinson, attended a public hearing for the EASE Act to advocate for it and to help make it more supportive for those currently in DOC facilities. The EASE Act is still relatively new, please help spread the word.
